The first of many email updates for customers interested in Bordeaux en primeur has just gone out. For those who don’t know en primeur is the system used by Bordeaux châteaux to sell their wines well before bottling, and is often the best (and cheapest) way to buy your claret. This year for the first time our en primeur campaign is being run by Lay & Wheeler, the fine wine specialist acquired by Majestic last year.
If you want to know what’s going on, the best way to find out is to sign up to our email updates. The minor inconvenience of having to re-register on the Lay & Wheeler site will be more than mitigated by the high level of customer service Lay & Wheeler offers. Of course you are welcome to purchase online but the Lay & Wheeler sales consultants, all of whom visited Bordeaux during the tasting season, are on hand to offer personal advice.
Of the better known wines, the first available is Certan de May, a beautiful Pomerol exclusively distributed by JP Moueix, owner of the fabled Chateau Pétrus.
We think things are going to hot up now, as the equally fabled American wine guru, Robert Parker, has just released his notes on the 2009 vintage. Over 20 wines are potentially worth the maximum 100 points in his view, and many of the wines are the best he’s ever tasted from individual properties. Praise indeed!
