I am Ecommerce Director for Majestic Wine, responsible for all our website and online marketing activities. I’ve been with the company since 1998, working in several of our stores in London before moving to head office to launch the Majestic website in 2000.

I drink wines from all over the world but if I had to pick I’d say my favourites are the reds of Spain, the south of France, the Rhône and Bordeaux. I’m also pretty partial to a drop of (preferably very fine) vintage Champagne!

Our offices are in Watford, Hertfordshire, and I live in north London.

Last few days of early summer offers

Just a gentle reminder that if you haven’t taken advantage of such deals as £5.99 Oyster Bay Sauvignon, £26 Veuve Clicquot, £7.49 Fleurie Duboeuf, £7.49 Lindauer Special Reserve and £4.99 Pinot Grigio Rosé, now would be a very good time to do so. These offers end on Monday, and with the website updating at 3pm [...]

Manager’s Choice Video: Papa Luna 2007 Calatayud

This is a great time to explore the wines of Spain as Spanish winemakers are really diversifying. Calatayud is an up-and-coming region not far from Zaragoza in north-eastern Spain, and here Fergus de Witt, manager of our Brighton store, explains exactly why he’s so taken with the stunning Papa Luna. Papa Luna 2007, Calatayud ‘Flying [...]

10 years of majestic.co.uk

This weekend is a rather notable one for myself and the Ecommerce team at Majestic. On Sunday 18 April it is the tenth anniversary of online ordering at Majestic. It seems remarkable to think that there was ever a time when the web wasn’t a significant part of our lives, but back in April 2000 [...]

Lay & Wheeler launch blog

Our friends at Lay & Wheeler have launched their own blog, over at blog.laywheeler.com. They’ve already been busy posting detailed information about the upcoming Bordeaux 2009 campaign, and I’ll reproduce the highlights here over the weekend, but customers of fine wine and en primeur will want to subscribe to Lay & Wheeler’s RSS feed and/or [...]

Save the wine column: update!

Further to the post last week reporting the web reaction to Tim Atkin‘s column being cut by The Observer, it seems to have borne fruit. The Times have a new food and drink supplement on Thursdays, and Tim has been signed up to write for it: I’m delighted to announce that I will be joining [...]

Kangarilla Road Parcel

A quick heads up that we’ve just launched a web exclusive parcel of wines from one of our favourite Australian producers, Kangarilla Road. Kangarilla Road is a brilliant winery in McLaren Vale. You may be familiar with the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz that we have stocked for many years, but winemaker Kevin O’Brien is [...]

Save the wine column

Sunday broadsheet The Observer is cutting back on its coverage of wine, with wine trade publication Harpers reporting that yesterday’s column was the last full-length piece from Tim Atkin MW. Tim has written for The Observer since 1993, and although he will continue to write for the paper’s Food Monthly supplement, the decision has caused [...]

Double success at the Drinks Retailing Awards

The annual Drinks Retailing Awards are organised by trade publication Off Licence News, and at last night’s ceremony we continued our history of performing well by bagging a brace of awards. As well as being named High Street Chain of the Year, we were delighted to pick up the Innovation of the Year award for [...]
