Hot on the heels of our Buyer’s Choice last week comes this little drop. First the Torrontes, now the Malbec!
This is a delightful, lighter style of Malbec that focuses on bright and fresh characteristics. It’s unoaked and full of pure fruit flavours. That light and juicy character makes it a great party wine.
Villa Nueva Malbec 2014, Argentina – Get it here
Taste: Succulent red fruits, plum and ripe cherry waft from the glass, following through on the palate with lovely soft and gentle tannins to give a bit of body.
Enjoy It With: This is a nice easy drinking red to crack open with friends, especially if you’ve ordered pizza.
Know Thy Wine: Malbec is virtually synonymous with Argentina today. The grape originates in France, where it is still queen bee in Cahors. It used to be an important grape in Bordeaux, but it has declined and now appears in only a handful of wines.
