Best known for his fantastic chat show, fabulous guests, and his ascerbic wit on Eurovision, Graham Norton is also a connoisseur of New Zealand’s finest export: Sauvignon Blanc.
For the last few years, Graham’s drink of choice – as featured on the Graham Norton Show – has been Invivo’s Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. So much so that he bought shares in the winery! Started by two old school friends in 2008, Invivo is one of New Zealand’s fastest growing wineries producing wines from both Marlborough and Central Otago.
They’ve got a heap of accolades for their wines, in fact they’ve amassed 115 medals and 4 trophies since their first vintage including gold medals at Decanter World Wine Awards, IWSC and Champion Wine of Marlborough at the inaugural Marlborough Wine Show.
Most celebrity endorsed products are just a name on the label, the rest is just marketing – but Invivo and Graham wanted this to be authentic. Invivo founders Tim and Rob flew 6 samples of new 2015 Sauvignon Blanc samples in a special stainless steel suitcase to London for Graham to blend himself. Each vineyard produces very different flavour profiles of Sauvignon Blanc, so there is art in the blending!
Over a two hour process Graham tasted his way through the samples to blend his “ultimate” Sauvignon Blanc. The final blend was noted and carefully taken back to New Zealand to produce Graham’s Own Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a zesty, citrussy and tropical blend with great aromatic punch, combining the classic passionfruit character of Wairau with the vibrant, rugged character you find in Awatere fruit. We’re really pleased to bring it to you, a UK first and exclusive to Majestic.
So without further ado, here’s a brilliant video with the story behind Graham’s delicious wine!
All of Graham’s royalties from sales and a minimum amount of £15,000 will be donated towards dog re-homing centres in UK and Ireland, through the charity Dogs Trust.
