Of course, we hope it’s something you’ve read in these very pages, but the chances are you’ve also picked up some great tips from other customers – perhaps from friends, maybe even from online reviews.

It’s great when people share their opinions online. Consumer reviews are heartfelt, genuine and warmly received. Here’s what some of your fellow customers have had to say recently…

“Verrrrry Nice”
‘Les Galets’ Côtes du Rhône 2009
£6.49 or £5.49 when you buy 2 bottles
“Super little wine for the money. I am not the type to get into all kinds of effete expressions about ‘chocolate’ flavour etc. – this wine is one of the few at this price which has that earthy (sexy??) flavour and aftertaste of a true Côtes du Rhône wine. Go for it!!!”

“Racy”
‘Dr.L’ Riesling, Loosen Brothers 2009, Mosel
£7.49
“I can’t recommend this wine enough, yes it has residual sugar in it, yes it’s sweet compared to a lot of dry examples. But it is just amazingly refreshing and is such good value for money.”

“Hooray! It’s Back!”
Rioja ‘Single Vineyard’ 2008, Ramon Bilbao
£8.99 or £7.49 when you buy 2 bottles
“Love this wine. Such good value – better than a lot of Riojas that cost a lot more (including from the same producer). Good complexity but without overdoing it and getting that slight ‘edge’ some Riojas can have. Always order it in a case and have missed it for the past couple of months while it’s not been available.”

“Why drink rosé when this is available?”
Pinot Noir 2008/09, Cave de Turckheim
£8.99 or £7.99 when you buy 2 bottles
“Chill it well and drink it in the summer. Taste and depth.”
Jeremy | March ’10 | 4 stars

“Nice lunch wine”
“Pinot noirs from cool regions can be too light and acid. This is light, but not too sharp. A nice lunch wine. Serve fresh.”
BrianW | February ’10 | 4 stars

“Good wine, good value”
Premier Vin du Château de Pitray 2006, Côtes de Castillon
£8.99 or £7.99 when you buy 2 bottles
“Chris’s review from April 09 is right on the mark. I too thought it tasted as good as some Bordeaux wines I’ve paid £12-£15 for; full of fruit although not as long as you’d expect on the first mouthful. I had a 2005 vintage, interesting to see if 2006 is any different. All in all, very good wine at this price, definitely recommended.”

“Must be worth £12 a bottle”
Mâcon-Lugny 2009, Louis Latour
£9.99 or £8.99 when you buy 2 bottles
“Classy wine. I usually buy the Macon Villages but thought I’d try one of your slightly more expensive offers. This wine is better than a glugging wine and complements beautifully fine fish dishes – Great with Lobster. Go on treat yourself!!”

“Fabulous with char-grilled steak…”
Viñalba Reserva Malbec 2008/09, Mendoza
£10.99 or £8.99 when you buy 2 bottles
“Quite closed on the first night but it opened up on the second night. Juicy red and black fruits, dark chocolate, french oak and the smokiness from the wine complemented extremely well with the charcoal flavours from the juicy rib-eye steak. The fatness of the rib-eye steak certainly helps to coat your palate and smooth the already fine and resolved tannins. Great concentration for the money!”

“Discovery”
Churchill Estates 2007/08, Douro
£10.99 or £9.99 when you buy 2 bottles
“As a Majestic customer for a number of years now, having enjoyed many ‘good finds’ from their offerings; I can honestly say I have not found one better than Churchill Estates. This wine has it all. I took a couple of bottles to try it and will be back for more.”
