The latest updates the UK's leading mixed case wine merchant

Charles Sydney testing the grapesCharles and Philippa Sydney left their jobs in the UK wine trade over 20 years ago to set up as wine brokers in the Loire Valley. Here they tell us about their La Grille Classic Loire range, designed to help demystify the Loire’s myriad of marvellous wines.

As brokers (or courtiers), we travel the 1,000km length of the Loire, visiting vineyards and cellars, talking to producers and passing on ideas in the hope of making ever riper, ever more intense wines to suit tastes back in the UK. It’s also our job to act as ambassadors for the array of attractive wines produced in this beautiful region.

Interloire Group ShotLest you should think it’s all too easy, we also spend a lot of time explaining to producers that British palates don’t always like the same style of wine as the French. A job made all the more rewarding by an abundance of styles ranging from bone-dry Muscadets, fruit-filled rosés to stickies, reds and sparklers.

Hence La Grille Classic Loire range. Working exclusively with the leading individual producers of each of the main Loire styles, our aim is to create a unique range that offers choice, character, quality and consistency: the Loire made easy.
