It’s Comic Relief today so we hope you’ve all got your red noses on in support! I was impressed at how they’ve come along over the years, I remember being at school where you could just about stomach wearing the thin sharp plastic noses of the mid 90’s for about 5 minutes. Well it looks like health and safety have got involved as this year’s offering feels cushioned and surprisingly comfortable, so there’s no excuse not to don your charity nose.
Majestic have been actively supporting Wine Relief for past 6 weeks on a selection of 12 different wines. Wine Relief was founded by Master of Wine Jancis Robinson and her husband to help improve the lives of disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa. Our Wine Relief case can be purchased for just £116.63 and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Wine Relief. That equates to £11.66 going to charity and a fantastic mix of red and white wines on your wine rack… that is a pretty good reason to make you feel good about stocking up your cellar! Furthermore we’ve extended our Wine Relief period until Monday 21st March. So you can continue to purchase any of our Wine Relief wines over the weekend and we will continue to send 10% of the proceeds to Wine Relief.
Our chosen Wine Relief case has been well received by the critics, Anthony Rose wrote up the Villa Lanata, Lo Zoccolaio, Suculé, Barbera d’Alba in the Independent on Saturday 12th March. Sarah McCleery wrote a glowing reference to our selection in yesterday’s The Oxford Times, in particular highlighting the Cave de Turckheim Pinot Gris from Alsace and the Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc from South Africa from the whites and the Vin de Pays de Caux Tempranillo Domaine du Pech Rome from France in the reds.
You may have already seen on our blog Simon Woods has posted 2 videos reviewing our Wine Relief case, one for the reds and then one for the whites. Let’s not forget that you can also see Majestic customer reviews by clicking on the relevant product pages. Why not buy a case and post your own reviews too? We welcome all reviews and love to hear what our valued customers think of our wines.
So tonight with my smooth edged cushioned red nose on, I’ll be sitting down with a glass of Fritz’s Riesling to watch what inventive ways the country has been fundraising to support this invaluable charity. From celebrity waxing to marathon world record breaking(?..tbc!) radio shows it should be a fantastic programme. I will however have to temporarily remove the nose as missing out on the elegant fresh citrussy nose of the Fritz’s Riesling would be sacrilege!
