This week we opened our 196th store in Durham. A beautiful city with a lot of history and a magnificent Cathedral.
Officially opened by the Mayoress on Tuesday, the Majestic Durham team have had a great time so far getting to know the locals and recommend some top wine. Like all our new stores they have an opening tasting weekend (6th-8th Sept) with free fizz, cheese and charcuterie available all day. So if you’re in the area pop in, or know anybody from Durham – let them know!
More info about the store and the team can be found on their very own website. Here’s one of their first blog posts…
Jermann Pinot Grigio 2012 Friuli – Our first Fine Wine open to try in Durham is an excellent take on a grape variety many will have sampled before. Normally made in a light, fresh easy drinking style that is perfect for a large group or party, this is a world away from the norm. With intense aromas of citrus and fresh stone-fruit and a quite a full body for an Italian Pinot Grigio.
The grapes are grown in the Friuli area of Italy on the family run estate founded by Anton Jermann in 1881, with present wine-maker Silvio Jermann taking over in the 1970s.
A perfect match for grilled seafood such as seabass or wild mushrooms in a creamy pasta dish. Saluté! Open to try from 6th September.
Here are a few shots from the opening day…
