Every Majestic store will be closed for an extra day on the 2nd January, 2020 – as a special thank you to our hard working teams after a fantastic Christmas period.
Majestic Wine are giving all their staff an extra days holiday to kick off 2020, as a thank you for their hard work throughout 2019 – and for their patience during a turbulent year at the retailer.
The nationwide network of over 195 stores will all be closed on the 2nd January, with over 1,000 members of staff given an extra days paid holiday to start the year.
The company said that the professionalism of their staff in the face of on-going uncertainty around the future of their stores, and the Majestic brand as a whole, had been exceptional. They also mentioned that despite the uncertainty, staff had still gone above and beyond to deliver an exceptional Christmas experience to Majestic shoppers.
Newly appointed Executive Chairman & CEO John Colley said:
“If you speak to anyone about Majestic, it’s usually our people, their local store teams, that come up in conversation first. That’s because Majestic is a business which is built on our people – they’re at the core of everything we stand for. They’ve had a difficult year with a lot of uncertainty, so I’m delighted that we were able to give each of them an extra day to relax, and to raise a glass to the next chapter of Majestic’s history.”
Although too early to comment on Christmas trading, Colley did indicate that he was proud of the early signs under new private ownership, and that the business was gearing up for its due chapter throughout the pivotal December period.
“We’ll crunch the numbers when we get back into work, but I’ve been out the shopfloor right the way through December and the energy, enthusiasm and sheer hard work from our teams is there to see. I hope they enjoy a thoroughly well deserved extra day off in January – and I can’t wait to get cracking again in the New Year”.
