Moving West we’re heading to Spain for introducing our latest new wine in the Majestic range. This is a Gewürztraminer from the region of Somontano, located in the foothills of the Pyrenees. This area has focussed on Gewürztraminer since its inception as a DO in 1984 and has been found to flourish in this environment. Majestic wine buyer Matt Pym tells us it’s “a lovely delicate and fresh example” so why not pop a couple in your trolley as at £5.99 on offer, a wine of this quality is fantastic value for money!
Viñas del Vero Gewürztraminer 2009, Somontano
Buy 2 bottles save £4 = £5.99
ORIGIN: Somontano gets its name from the fact that it lies at the foot of the mountains, in this case the Pyrenees. Viñas del Vero is responsible for around 40% of wine production in this region. This Gewürztraminer comes from a plot known as ‘El Enebro’.
TASTE: An intense, lifted floral nose, with wafts of rose and honeysuckle amid a burst of tropical fruit. Characteristic lychee and peach flavours are delivered with a hint of sweetness and satisfying texture.
ENJOY: Matches superbly with fragrant seafood dishes such as paella, or with mildly spiced fish dishes.
