This week we caught up with Paolo from de Forville in Northwest Italy. From five generations of Barbaresco lovers, wine is in Paolo’s blood. Here he shares with us his favourite places in the local town of Alba…
Alba is a wonderful place to visit. A town of 33,000 people renowned for food and wine, it is the main town of the Langhe in southern Piedmont province of Cuneo.
There are several good restaurants in the city center such as the Vincafè, Pasta e Pasta, Enoclub, La Brasilera Bar or Caffè Rossetti, where you can taste the typical food of our region and enjoy all the variety of the wines produced in this area.
Go to Villa D’Amelia and Montemarino, two wonderful hotels about 8 km out of Alba.
Shopping is best in the afternoon. Ratti is excellent for typical cheeses and truffles. For fashion go to Brian&Barry where you can find the top Italian brands.
Take a break and have an ice cream at Sacchero, my favourite gelateria in the city.
Thanks Paolo. Looking forward to a trip to Italy later this year! Discover more of our producers towns and cities in our spring series of ‘My Secret City’.
