All the major Port houses have “declared” the 2007 vintage, and we will soon be offering the wines en primeur. Port is an interesting wine to buy this way for several reasons:
- Only the very best vintages are “declared”; it last happened in 2003 and 2000.
- Port is the least expensive way to buy a wine that will cellar for 18 years or more – it’s a perfect christening or other gift for babies born in 2007.
- Mature vintage Port is a fantastic experience, and one of the world’s truly fine wines, but difficult to find. Buying en primeur now means that you’ll have the bottle you need for Christmas Day 2029.
- We offer all our Ports in convenient 6 bottle cases.
This afternoon I’ll be tasting the 2007s of the Taylor-Fladgate Partnership (Taylor’s, Fonseca, Croft) and the Symington family (Graham, Dow, Warre) as well as Quinta do Noval. I’ll try and tweet as I taste, and update the blog as soon as possible afterwards.
