Bordeaux 2008: Les Forts and Léoville-Barton

After yesterday’s exciting release of Latour (which sold out in very short order) this morning we have the second wine of that property, Les Forts de Latour. Nowadays this wine competes as much with second growths as with second wines, although with a much higher proportion of Merlot in the blend this year it is quite different to the grand vin.

Anthony Barton told us he planned to release early, and true to his word we also have Léoville-Barton, a perennial favourite thanks to its reliable quality and sensible pricing. The 2008 vintage is a big, chunky, classic Léoville-Barton that is sure to be popular.

Les Forts de Latour 2008 Pauillac, Second wine of Latour 12 x 75cl Bottles, £560

Château Léoville-Barton 2008 St-Julien, 2ème Cru Classé 12 x 75cl Bottles, £330

Customers should read our vintage report, and be familiar with the timetable for Bordeaux 2008 before purchasing. En Primeur wines are priced for in-bond delivery and do not include duty, VAT and handling.
