Building A Bridge Towards New Wines

With such a large selection of wines at all of our Majestic stores, Karl, Manager at Majestic Carlisle, looks at some of the new and eclectic additions…

Summer brings longer nights, hopefully a spot of sunshine and also a raft of new wines into the Majestic range. At Majestic Carlisle we love trying new additions and it’s always a treat to find something that we can talk about with customers. Here are four new wines which will fit into anyone’s summer celebrations.

Cloudy Bay Pelorus Rosé NV New Zealand Cloudy Bay Pelorus Rosé NV – Pelorus is the sparkling wine produced by Cloudy Bay. Made to celebrate their 25th anniversary, it has a classic red berry palate with a touch of smoky spice on the finish. Married with King Prawn skewers from the barbecue it gives everyone’s summer a little lift. Lovely wine.

Ponte del Diavolo Pinot Bianco 2010 – The bridge on the label of the bottle refers to a story of a pact between the town’s people and the Devil himself. Luckily for us, this crisp unoaked wine brings citrus notes and is also part of our seasonal Italian offer.

Allegrini Bardolino Chiaretto 2010 Naiano Allegrini Bardolino Chiaretto 2010 – Sitting on the edge of Lake Garda, made from three grape varieties comes this cracking pink from northern Italy. It’s full of summer fruits and has a lovely dry finish which leaves you wanting more. This is a serious rose and for those who wince at the thought of a glass of pink, this will see you through a long summer’s night. This is also part of our Italian season.

Calicanto 2009 – Once again a wine linked to bridge building, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere is typically Chilean. Containing cassis and oodles of black fruit, the Carmenere brings a lovely cocoa touch which rounds the wine out. It’s a wine with classic structure and will reward patience if left. This is certainly worth hunting out.

We’re always interested to hear feedback. Tweet us directly @majesticcrl and we’ll be more than happy to chat about any of these new wines or any other wines in our range. Enjoy!
