Blind River is in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley in the northeast of New Zealand’s South Island and the vineyard is tiny! Blind River makes just three wines – Sauvignon Blanc, ‘Tekau’ Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
At this year’s International Wine Challenge, their Blind River Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was awarded five trophies and a Great Value award…
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Trophy
New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Trophy
New Zealand White Trophy
International Sauvignon Blanc Trophy
Great Value White between £7 – £12
Of over 15,000 wines entered into the competition, 214 wines won a trophy. And only three wines, one of which was Blind River Sauvignon Blanc, won five trophies!
Rebecca Wiffen, Winemaker at Blind River, told us “this is a fantastic result – we’ve always been excited about the fruit from the Blind River vineyard and we reckoned the 2015 was our best Sauvignon Blanc ever.”
If you’d like to try this multi-trophy winning wine, get in quick! We’ve just received the last shipment of the 2015 vintage and when it’s gone it’s gone!
Cheers to the Blind River team!
