Majestic And Moët & Chandon Donate £50,000 To The Drink’s Trust

Majestic Wine and Moët & Chandon have today donated the proceeds of 2,000 bottles of Brut Imperial to industry charity, The Drink’s Trust.

The fundraiser, which was launched earlier this year, was created to help support individuals in the UK’s drinks sector as they coped with the fall-out of COVID-19. Customers were asked to simply purchase a bottle of Moët’s iconic champagne, and Majestic agreed to donate all proceeds from each sale to the trust.

Upon accepting the donation, Ross Carter (Cheif Executive at the Drink Trust) said:

“In the weeks following the outbreak of COVID-19 we received unprecedented levels of demand. In March we announced the introduction of more wellbeing services, and now, conscious of the emerging and likely long-term effects the current situation we will have on mental wellbeing, we are significantly increasing our wellness assistance to the members of the drinks industry, with the introduction of therapy services, insomnia treatment and mindful drinking courses. Our ambition is to help create a healthy and productive industry workforce and assist them to live a constructive and purposeful life in these times of uncertainty and as they return to their jobs or re-enter the job market.

Naturally, a greater demand for our support has resulted in a greater cost to deliver it. That is why donations [such as these] makes such a difference in helping The Drinks Trust achieve these goals and continue to grow its support.”

Speaking at the time of the launch, Majestic’s Chief Commercial Officer Robert Cooke said:
“The work The Drinks Trust does has never been more important in supporting the overall health of the UK’s hard-working drinks industry. With so much uncertainty surrounding the sector in the face of COVID-19, we were keen to find further ways Majestic could help – and we’re delighted to be working with Moët & Chandon to do just that.”

Alexei Rosin, Managing Director Moët Hennessy UK added:
“We are all facing an unprecedented challenge, and the wine industry is no
exception. Together with Majestic, we want to show our support for the fantastic work The Drinks Trust carry out by raising funds for our friends and colleagues in the trade. We look forward to toasting a brighter future together soon.”

The Drinks Trust, which was founded in 1886, works to provide care and support for people who work in the drinks industry across the UK.
