In the UK, one in three people are affected by cancer at some point in their lives. Maggie’s Centres provide a network of cancer support centres, based next to NHS hospitals, which offer a unique programme of support for people living with cancer and for their family, friends and carers.
Maggie’s Centres are calm, uplifting, inspiring places. Here, you can access information on cancer and its treatment, emotional support, confidential counselling and advice. You can also join regular timetabled group activities such as relaxation and visualisation courses, nutritional workshops and support groups. Visitors don’t need to make an appointment, or be referred, and all the services and facilities are free. Support is also available through Maggie’s unique Online Centre.
Over 2011, we will be raising money and awareness about Maggie’s Centres through collection tins in stores, mobile phone and printer cartridge recycling and staff fundraising activities. We’re hoping to continue to build on last year’s fantastic work for Parkinson’s UK, our Charity of the Year 2010.
