Majestic Stores Reopen – A Message From Our CEO, John Colley

Two days before the UK went into lockdown, we took the decision to close all 200 Majestic stores across the UK and France, instead operating a home delivery nationwide network. And, despite receiving ‘essential’ status, we have kept our branches closed throughout the coronavirus outbreak as we have put the safety of everyone connected with this fantastic business first and foremost.

Now, however, I’m pleased to announce the time has come to reopen our doors, and welcome our fantastic, loyal customers back into our stores this weekend. 

You will, of course, notice some changes; be it a limit on customer numbers, extra hygiene measures and social distancing guidance. I would kindly request that you respect these measures we have put in place, to ensure the safety of both our colleagues and customers as they shop. 

Please check your local store’s page before visiting us to confirm open times (by putting your postcode in here).  Depending on the size, staffing and guidance of your branch, there may be extra measures (such as order points) upon your visit – but our staff are here to ensure your experience remains Majestic (a handful are currently only accepting pre-order collections until further measures can be introduced.) 

Our teams can’t wait to welcome you back, and introduce you to over 250 specialist new wines brought in throughout lockdown – wines which we feel will help Majestic, back to what it does best – and what our customers want most. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer tastings currently – but I’m sure you’ll still love discovering these new additions and hearing which bottles are exciting our staff! (And all bottles remain covered by our No Quibble guarantee).

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to every single colleague within the Majestic team for what has been an incredibly challenging few months. The way they have adapted, the work they have put in and commitment to the company and our customers has been outstanding. Everyone who knows Majestic, knows what a special company it is. But from the stores, to the office, to our colleagues in Majestic Commercial (our business to business arm) and our Depot – it’s been an incredible team effort throughout the coronavirus outbreak and now to be ready to reopen too. I know, from reading the feedback, how much it has meant to our customers too. Unfortunately our French stores are set to remain closed for the time being, but we’re working extremely hard to reopen as soon as restrictions ease here too. 

Over a year ago Majestic stores were being threatened with wholesale closure. Our future has since been secured, and the role those stores have played across the entire UK in the face of a pandemic has been outstanding. I hope both our customers and colleagues alike can now begin to look forward to a brighter future, with plenty more fantastic bottles shared (safely) along the way.
