Majestic has taken the necessary decision to remove all tastings from stores for the foreseeable future.
The ability to try wine before you buy it was revolutionary, when Majestic first opened its doors in 1980. Currently the business opens over 90,000 bottles a year for customers to taste – plus extra for in-store events (such as masterclasses, showcases and supplier tastings).
This is the first time in Majestic’s 40 year history you won’t be able to try wines in store, but the safety of our staff has to come first.

“Rest assured we’ll be back opening plenty of bottles, right across the country, the minute it’s safe to do so.
Currently, however, the extra risks of staff having to clean tasting glasses and stations or bottles creating multiple contact points, is a potential concern for our people in the light of the COVID-19 outbreak. We had to act, based on our store feedback in particular, to remove tastings. Their well-being remains our number one priority.
Store’s tasting budgets will now be used as a welfare fund, for staff to buy pizzas, moisturiser, taxis – or whatever they choose. “
